Fashion and polo at Bethpage State Park this Sunday

While attending a polo match is exciting on its own, you can have double the fun, on Sept. 30, as a fashion show is also taking place at the Bethpage Polo at the Park event, part of the New York Polo Series, hosted by Meadowbrook Polo Club, at Bethpage State Park’s polo field in Farmingdale.

The Style Me Pretty Ladies and The Canine Couture Fashion Show, a first-ever special event for the polo series, is open to women and their pooches. Women interested in participating in the fashion show are encouraged to wear their polo-finest dresses – and can register upon arrival. The pups should dress to impress, too – and can wear handmade or store-purchased costumes that show off a unique style. Prizes will be awarded for the best dressed duo on the runway.

During the polo match, spectators can enjoy the skill of polo teams, Land Rover and Jaguar, who will duke it out for the win. And, after cheering from the sidelines, you can get right on the field and participate in the traditional “divot stomp” during half-time. Since the horses create divots in the grass due to quickly starting and stopping, it’s safer to level out the ground before the game starts back up; and, fun for you to stomp about!

Polo, known as the “The Sport of Kings,” and a dog-friendly fashion show are sure to be a one-of-a-kind experience, as well as a great time!
