Festival highlights street artists painting Riverhead’s town on Sunday
While celebrating this three-day Memorial Day weekend, you might want to add East End Arts’ 21st annual Mosaic Street Painting Festival to your holiday schedule, being held on Main Street in Riverhead, on May 28.
Ordinary street pavement will be transformed, as street painters add splashes of color along this downtown strip. Images painted have ranged from pop culture and historical figures to portraits and landscapes.
While marveling as street art is being created before your eyes, you can enjoy the rest of the festival. Check out the fine arts and crafts fair, which features the wares of local artists and artisans. There’s also live music, along with performances that include a drum circle. And, keep your eyes peeled for the gourmet food trucks parked along the road, with ice-cream and BBQ favorites, as well as other yummy options.
All activities take place on E. Main Street, between Roanoke and East avenues, as well as on the grounds of East End Arts (133 and 141 E. Main Street).
