Get your geek on at the geekiest convention in town

Science-fiction and fantasy fans, rejoice – everything you know and love will be contained into the Hyatt Regency Long Island in Hauppauge, on April 22 and 23, at the Long Island Geek Convention (or L.I. Geek for short).

From gaming, cosplay and film and TV screenings (new episode of “Doctor Who,” anyone?) to Q&As and panels – like Star Wars Trivia, The Walking Dead Survivor’s Support Group and An Appreciation of Sherlock Holmes – there’s sure to be something for everyone.

There’s a long list of fandoms at the panels, including “Parks and Recreation,” “Harry Potter,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” Marvel’s superheroes and “Game of Thrones.” By the way, Miltos Yerolemou, who portrayed master swordsman Syrio Forel on “GoT,” will host “Throne Games” and a water dancing, interactive demo, showcasing sword techniques. Yerolemou will be available for photo sessions and autographs, both days, too.

Autographs and photo sessions will also be held with other guest stars: Guest of Honor Felix Silla, “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century,” “Star Trek, “Planet of the Apes,” “Return of the Jedi” and “The Addams Family;” Robert Mukes, “Westworld;” Richard Kahan, “Outlander;” Joshua Lou Friedman, director of “The Nightmare Game;” and John Peel, a British writer. Meet all these stars at Sunday’s Breakfast with the Stars (separate ticket required) event. And, fan groups like the U.S.S. Britannic NCC-71818, a Long Island-based Star Trek fan club, are stopping by.

Want to show-off your cosplay talents? All genres of costumes are welcome to strut across the catwalk at The Multiverse Masquerade, on Saturday.

As someone who’s attended conventions in the past and a proud fan of many of the listed films, books and TV series, I believe this is the best place for fans to gather to talk about the things they’re most passionate about. So, get your pass and dress up, if you’d like, because this is going to be one geeky weekend.
