Great Italian food and entertainment are a given at the St. Rocco Festival

Fluorescent lights illuminating the fairground rides, the aroma of carnival fare and Italian specialties, and a display of colorful fireworks set against the night sky are some of the reasons you don’t want to miss out on the St. Rocco Festival, held from July 5-9, along Shore Avenue in Oyster Bay. The fireworks display is held on Friday night.

A tradition for more than 100 years, this festival is hosted by the Oyster Bay Italian American Citizens Club. The highlight – an international food court with Italian favorites. While you can get your fill of eggplant parmesan, pasta, cannoli and other Italian dishes here, gyros, funnel cakes and other fair food are available, too.

Exciting rides, for both little kids and thrill-seekers, are featured, from the Ferris Wheel to Pharaoh’s Fury. And in between the rides, test your skills at the carnival games; you might even win a prize! On the entertainment stage, live music is performed nightly. And, there’s also a petting zoo to check out.

So, whether you go on one of the days or more, St. Rocco Festival is definitely a crowd-pleaser to while away a Long Island summer night.
