Shop ‘til you drop for artisan wares at a farm in Riverhead and a boardwalk in Long Beach

There’s nothing better, to me, than a great shopping opportunity at an even greater location. So, for this Saturday and Sunday, I’ve found two events where you can shop to your heart’s content, with one at the historic Hallockville Farm and the other at the scenic South Shore Long Beach Boardwalk.

Country Fair and Craft Show at Hallockville Farm Museum: Aug. 25-26, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Head to the heart of North Fork farm country to shop for goods with an old-fashioned flair, including woodcarvings, soaps, candles, jewelry, pottery, baskets and glass art. This 38th annual fair and show is to feature more than 50 vendors and demonstrators, like the Hallockville Quilt and Stitch Group and the Peconic Ruggers, who will be on-site to educate attendees about their specific craft, with demos and exhibits. You can also meet farm animals, enjoy various food vendors, listen to live music and take guided tours of Hallockville’s historic buildings. See for yourself why this show returns year after year.

Arts and Crafts Fair on the Long Beach Boardwalk, Aug. 25-26, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Shopping along the boardwalk, with the sounds and breeze from the ocean, is the quintessential LI summer weekend activity and a pastime that can be enjoyed this weekend at Long Beach Historical and Preservation Society’s annual fair – held on the Long Beach Boardwalk. Shop for unique craft items, clothing and other goodies. As food vendors will be beachside, too, you can also snack on some tasty treats, like churros and zeppoles.
