The East End has it going on with plenty to see and do this weekend

I have a special place in my heart for the Eastern End of Long Island; as a Nassau resident, it is truly a getaway for me. And, I look forward to getting out there, now, especially with all the attractions, shows and festivals held in the summer.

Sag Harbor: “Evita”— Aug. 16-Sept. 2
The life of Eva Perón and her journey to becoming the First Lady of Argentina is explored in this musical, with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, at Bay Street Theater, corner of Bay and Main streets. Listen for beloved songs like “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” “High Flying, Adored” and “Another Suitcase in Another Hall.” Tickets: 631-725-9500. baystreet.org.

Montauk: Art Show on the Green — Aug. 17-19
Walk through an outdoor art gallery at the Village Green to find local, regional and national artisans displaying their paintings, sculpture, jewelry, photography, glass, ceramics, mixed-media, woodworking and more, at Montauk Artists’ Association 24th annual show. A cool aspect to this show is that all the artists will be on-site, so you can speak with them about their work. 631-668-5336. montaukartistsassociation.org.

East Hampton: Comedian Tig Notaro — Aug. 18
Notaro, known for her deadpan sense of humor and also for starring in the Amazon series “One Mississippi,” performs stand-up at 8 p.m., at Guild Hall, 158 Main St. Notaro is also famed for “Live,” a 2013 stand-up set that she performed just days after she was diagnosed with breast cancer (of which she is now in remission). 631-324-4050. guildhall.org.

Mattituck: Peach Festival — Aug. 18-19
Peaches are still in season here and you can celebrate them, along with peach-eating contests and live music, at Harbes Family Farm and Vineyard, 715 Sound Ave. Find out to see who will be crowned Harbes Peach King and Queen, and visit the Harbes Barnyard Adventure with hayride tours, pig races and kids’ activities. The festival is free; however, there is a fee for the Barnyard Adventure. 631-298-9463. harbesfamilyfarm.com.

Montauk: Whale Watching — Aug. 19
Enjoy an afternoon at sea, looking for whales, dolphins, sea turtles, sea birds and other aquatic life, on a family-friendly marine cruise, offered by Viking Fleet and CRESLI (Coastal Research and Education Society of Long Island, Inc.). In case it’s booked, there are more tours available: Aug. 22, Aug. 29 and Sept. 2. The tour, with a naturalist/marine biologist aboard to offer narration and answer any questions, sets sail at 2 p.m., from Viking Landing in Montauk Harbor. Reserve: cresli.org.

Southampton: Tour of the Basilica of Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary — Aug. 19
If you’re a history buff like me, then you’ll want to go on this guided walk through this church, which was built by Irish immigrants, with stained-glass windows, the pulpit and more, from 2-5 p.m., at 168 Hill St. Reserve: 631-283-2494. southamptonhistory.org.
