Antique and classic cars drive into the spotlight this week

Car enthusiasts, historians and families can all find something to bond over at the Classic Car Cruise Night in Westbury, held tonight, and the Antique Auto Show in Southampton, on Saturday.

Westbury: Classic Car Cruise Night. Every Thursday (weather permitting), now through Oct. 5, from 5-9 p.m., you can peruse around a dozen to two dozen classic cars. During tonight’s show, there’s also a concert in the Piazza, which is adjacent to the cruise night parking lot. Sponsored by Westbury Arts Council, Rock N Roll Night features the sounds of X-Session, a band that plays music from the 70s to today.

Southampton: Antique Auto Show. The 1-acre grounds of the Rogers Mansion will be transformed to reflect bygone eras, as more than 30 antique and classic restored automobiles – from a 1910 Model T to muscle cars from the 60s – will be on display for this 11th annual show, on Aug. 12, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. For a throwback-to-yesteryear experience, take a look at the Southampton Fire Department’s 1912 American-Lafrance ladder truck, which will also be showcased. These perfectly preserved relics are a testament to car collectors’ dedication to history and automobile heritage.
