Get your boost of merry at holiday-themed entertainment – featured around town

Since the tree (for many) is decorated, the menorah is being lit each night through Dec. 20 and the presents are nearly wrapped, you can step back a minute to enjoy some local, holiday-style entertainment, offered Dec. 16 and Dec. 17.

A Very Motown Christmas. Take a trip down Memory Lane with songs like “My Girl,” “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” as well as some Christmas favorites sprinkled in, on Dec. 16, at the Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts. Tony Award-winning designer Evie Ross lends her talents to the costumes, and the classic Motown choreography can be attributed to American Dance Theater director Terri Giordano. Experience “how sweet it is” to attend a Motown concert.

Christmas Celebration. Listen as your favorite holiday tunes are performed on stage by Broadway’s own Jenny Hill (“Elf,” “Something Rotten”) and Curt Olds (“Riverdance”), on Dec. 16-17, at the Madison Theatre at Molloy College’s annual Christmas show, in Rockville Centre. The celebration also features students from Molloy’s CAP21 Theatre Arts Program and Musical Theatre Intensive Program.

Chanukah Celebration. Stop in for a candle lighting and stay for music, dancing, food and arts and crafts, along with a family-friendly scavenger hunt and an escape room adventure, on Dec. 17, at Friedberg JCC’s Festival of Lights celebration, in Oceanside.

Squeeze some me-time in between all of your holiday chores (I know I am), and be entertained in the spirit of the season.
