Hear ye, hear ye! The Medieval Festival’s in town this weekend

The Kingdom of Acre is stopping by Riverhead, transforming the grounds of Dorothy P. Flint 4-H Camp into a renaissance extravaganza, for its Medieval Festival, held June 10-11.

Here, you can step back in time to medieval Europe (as well as, maybe, pretend you’ve happened into the “Game of Thrones” universe) to experience the pageantry of this era, including the ambient battle noises of combat with knights clad in full body armor clanging their swords together.

The Middle Ages come alive with tournaments, archery (with professional archers), merchants, a medieval fashion show (with more than two dozen outfits) and entertainment. Find out, too, if you possess hidden archery talents by shooting out your own arrows.

Attractions also include a Maypole Dance, a horse show and performing jugglers, stilt walkers and bagpipers. A stop at the vendors is a must, though, as the medieval-style goods available allow you to take the fun home with you.

Get a feel for what it was like to live during this era and head on down to this universe of fun.
