East End’s 11th annual Winterfest is right now!

The four-week, multi-venue festival of music, art and locally sourced food and drink, begins on Feb. 22 and runs through March 18; kicking off this Friday, at 7 p.m., at Hotel Indigo in Riverhead.

Billboard Live performs at Martha Clara Vineyards, on March 10.

With music by the East End Trio and Keith Sloane, the party features two floors of entertainment that includes tastings from local restaurants, vineyards and breweries, along with local vendors and raffle prizes. The hotel is located at 1830 W. Main St.

Take your pick of attractions to visit, from the many offered. On Feb. 25, Whiskey Weekend will have beers on tap that were aged in used whiskey, at the Long Island Brewery; and on March 2, the Blue Oyster Cult will perform at Suffolk Theater. On March 3, you can get in on the “Winterfest Experience,” the official Winterfest winery tour, where you can visit Clovis Point, Martha Clara and Jamesport Vineyards on the North Fork Trolley. Complete your Winterfest experience with an Improv Comedy Show at Bay Street Theater, on March 17, and a special tour of Sang Lee Farm, where you can partake in food and wine tastings, on March 18. A full schedule of events and a listing of venues are available online.

With so much to do and four weeks to do it in, you are sure to come to the conclusion (as I have) that our island’s much-loved North and South Forks are clearly a cultural and visual experience to enjoy in any season – whether it’s winter, spring, summer or fall.
