Fireworks light up the sky this week across Long Island

If you’re scrambling to find out where the best-of-the-best fireworks displays are on Long Island to mark Independence Day this year, look no further; as I’ve made seven picks for where to go to view them. Here are my choice celebrations that I’m sure will provide you and your family with plenty of enjoyment.

East Meadow: TD Bank Celebrate America Fireworks and Show, June 30. The sky over Eisenhower Park, at Merrick and Stewart avenues, will sparkle with Grucci fireworks, accompanied by music from local radio station WALK 97.5, after dusk. However, at 7 p.m., tribute band 45rpm will perform 70s AM-radio hits at Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre; theatre gates open at 5:45 p.m. Pick up free tickets (while supplies last) at L.I. TD Bank locations. Due to limited space, overflow will be directed to other viewing and parking areas. Rain date: July 1. nassaucountyny.gov.

Orient Harbor Independence Day Fireworks, June 30. Beginning at 9:15 p.m., Grucci fireworks will light up the sky over the harbor. This show is presented by the Orient Harbor July 4th Festivities, Inc., a non-profit group with the mission to honor our nation’s history and military service members with an annual display for the benefit of the communities surrounding Orient Harbor. orientfireworks.com.

Sag Harbor: Fireworks Celebration, June 30. Bring a blanket or chair to Marine Park, Haven’s Beach or the Long Wharf, or come by boat if you wish, to this Grucci fireworks display. The show in the sky begins approximately at 9:30 p.m. sagharborchamber.com.

East Hills: Great and Grand Fireworks Celebration, July 3. While the Fireworks by Santore display starts at about 9:15 p.m., on the Great Lawn at The Park at East Hills, festivities begin at 6 p.m., with a DJ and a picnic in the park. A food caterer will be on site and 70s tribute band 45rpm takes the stage at 6:30 p.m. Town residents need only show their park cards to attend. Guest tickets are complimentary, but there is a limit of four per residence. The park is located on Harbor Hill Road. Rain date: July 4. villageofeasthills.org.

Oakdale/Great River: Connetquot River FireworksJuly 3. Grucci fireworks are set to begin at 9:15 p.m., over the Connetquot River. Suggested viewing spots include The Snapper Inn, 500 Shore Drive, Oakdale; The View, 3 Consuelo Place, Oakdale; Nicoll’s Point Marina, 474 Shore Drive, Oakdale; and Timber Point, Great River Road, Great River. Stars Over Montauk, July 4. The Montauk Chamber of Commerce hosts its 21st annual Independence Day fireworks show at 9 p.m., at Umbrella Beach. But, the display can be seen from any beach or location in town. Grucci fireworks will light up the night sky as patriotic music is played by WELJ (104.7 FM), a Montauk station. Wantagh: Sterling National Bank Fireworks, July 4. At 9 p.m., the beauty of the beach is augmented only by color and light to fill the sky at Jones Beach State Park’s show, set to a musical array of patriotic songs. Arrive early for a prime seat on the Central Mall beachfront, but the fireworks will be viewable from all parking fields. parks.ny.gov.
